Assignment 2 : Rhythm Wall

For this assignment, we were told to pick 3 keywords that explains our given genre and also 3 design elements to put on to our wall. Our design has to portray our genres clearly and not only that the wall has to be all white.

The 3 main keyword I chose to use to incorporate to the wall is :
1. Dance
2. Graffiti
3. Battle

And as for the 3 design elements I chose :
1.  Point
2. Lines
3. Tonal value

On my wall I used the wire to represent the look of sound waves that have been morphed to look like people are break dancing. Other than that, that structure also represents graffiti and art. The feel of the paint splats. At the bottom of the wall I did a series of layers of random waves. This is to represent the how hip hop is freestyled. Lastly my tag line is ' living vibrations '   Hip hop is a very lively music genre. Up to this date many people still listen to hip hop and is incorporated everywhere we go. Living vibrations means to live in the moment, with all the different sounds and vibrations that we get around us.

This is my Rhythm Wall

Interior Design Projects : Hip Hop Infographic Board

This semester, the theme for this class the entire semester is music. Our designs has to reflect the certain genre that was given to us by our lecturers. The first project for this semester is an infographic board.

We were divided into groups according to the genre that we were given. I was given Hip Hop along with 4 other girls, Celine, Olivia, Chloe and Zhi Ying. We were given a week to come up with a rough sketch of how our boards will look like and the type of information that we will put onto it. Immediately my group divided our work and search for the needed information.

Hip Hop was mainly started by the African Americans who lived in Bronx, New York City. Hip Hop is used to express feeling not only through music but rap and graffiti as well. The 4 major elements of hip hop is Emceeing, Graffiti, Dance and Rapping.

After showing the lecturers our ideas, we started work straight away. My part in the board was to do the title head in graffiti and to draw out the evolution of hip hop fashion through out the years.
With this i learnt that doing graffiti is not as easy as it seems. It takes a lot of time and patience to get the alphabets looking right.
